Switzerland midfielder Gokhan Inler's stock has risen considerably after his displays at Euro 2008, according to reports in his homeland.

The Udinese star was one of his country's stand-out performers as the co-hosts slipped out of the tournament at the group phase.

Swiss newspapers report that the 23-year-old has a buy-out clause in Italy worth just under £8 million and a number of clubs took specific interest in his display against Portugal.

Blick states that Arsenal and Sunderland were among the sides following Inler closely with several Italian outfits also keen to keep him in Serie A.

Inler plays in a defensive midfield role and will be off the radar regarding any developments in the coming fortnight as he is travelling to Portugal for a summer holiday.

Since making his international debut in 2006, he has become a vital cog for Switzerland and Udinese would be loathed to lose him.

Having seen a lot of him for FCZ I would say he's not really good enough, but might be a bit of a Flamini, and could do a job.
